If you are one of the Many volunteers who worked on and off throughout the last 20 years, give or take, in hopes of getting this Community Center Project up and running. You'll be happy to know that there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel. With the help of the City of Santa Rosa, it's actually in the works again and with your help, can and hopefully will be a reality this coming year.

Our members are working closely with the City of Santa Rosa. We are trying to raise the much needed $175,000.00 to move & complete the 4 modular units waiting to be moved onto the site at Southwest Community Park. After it's in place, we will work on having the inside remodelled to house the new Roseland Library and Community Center.

Please send in your tax-deductible donations small or big, so this dream will become a reality for the children & people in the Roseland community, we can't do this without your help.

Our Sunday, August 24th. 2008 Community 'SALAMANDER FESTIVAL'  headed by Lions Pat Sterck and Jim Paschal was held. 100% of the proceeds from the event is being held to pay for moving of the modular units. Businesses & Crafters from the Roseland Community and Sonoma County, also non profit organizations were invited to sign up for booth space, entertainment, offer fantastic yummy food and games for the children or just to give information. Fun was held by all.

Sunday August 16th. 2009, is the day for the 2nd. annual Salamander Festival, once again to be held at Southwest Community Park. We hope to raise enough funds to move the modular units onto it's site. Permit is requested and awaiting approval from the fish and game department as we don't want to hurt the Tiger Salamanders that may be around the site that the modular units will be set.

Perhaps you as individuals or clubs in Sonoma County will be sending in your  tax deductible donation/s as small as $5.00 or as much as in the thousands. There are sponsor levels with great advertising for individuals, clubs or businesses. Remember too that 100% of your donation will go towards the remodelling of the modular project to help the Roseland Community set up the much needed Library and Community Center at the Southwest Community Park on Hearn Avenue. May we count on you to help us help our community?

Estimated amount needed for phase 1 of the project is $35,000.00. We need to move 4 modular units, attach them together to form a whole building, then we will need to anchor the building onto the site. Approx. $20,000.00 more is needed to complete this part of the project.

We need funds and/or in-kind donations to help complete the project.  May we count on you to help us help our community?

Here is the breakdown for the$175,000.00 needed to complete the project:

Building permits...................................................$10,000.00

Transportation and set up of the modulars...........$35,000.00

If you would like to be a sponsor, in whole or choice of any one of the above, in appreciation, the City of Santa Rosa will place a special plaque, in your name, on one of the walls in the modular. All $500.00 or more donors received, the sponsor will be listed on a plaque as well. Please help spread the word and get your donations in so that we can complete this project for the kids in Roseland.

Thank you in advance for your donation, know that the project cannot be completed without the help of many, may you be one of them.

Many volunteers are needed to put together the "SALAMANDER FESTIVAL",  We would like to thank you one and all for your help and support. The Salamander Festival event ran very smooth, entertainment was great and the weather was perfect. Unfortunately there were 2 major events going on around the area so our turnout was not as good as we thought it would be. We hope that the 2009 "2nd. annual Salamander Festival" will have a lot more in attendance and more booths as well.

Local Realtor helps lead Southwest Park community building effort

The Roseland Lions Club has taken the leadership role in fundraising for the Southwest Park Community Center with Realtor Jim Paschal playing a key role in the $175,000 building relocation project. Both cash and in-kind donations are being sought.

The site at Hearn Ave. and Burbank Ave. at the Southwest Park has been set aside for the purpose of providing a community center since the area was master-planned almost 20 years ago. The City of Santa Rosa has recently offered the use of temporary, 3,000 sq. ft. building that was last the clubhouse and pro-shop during the Bennett Valley Golf Course building remodel.

According to City’s estimates, $175,000 is necessary to move the building to the site, set it on a foundation, make the facility ADA compliant, and connect it to all utilities. Then a variety of community programs can begin to serve the Southwest area under the auspice of the City of Santa Rosa. As fundraising is underway, the proposal is submitted for Environmental Impact compliance as well.

Lion Pat Sterck, president of the Roseland Lions, is leading the fundraising effort along with committee members Lions Karen Waller, Bonnie Baclawski, Judith Guzman, Eddie Alvarez & Carla Curtiss, treasurer. Contact Lions Jim Paschal 707-579- 8882 or Pat Sterck 415-215-5599 (www.roseland-lions.com) for tax deductible donation information including in-kind donations.
